No Budget Line? Here's How Schools Pay for This
Purchase order / district funds
The most common route. Your district issues a PO, we deliver and set up, and we invoice against the PO. Done.
NJEA PEP grants
Public Education Partnership grants through the New Jersey Education Association exist to fund programs exactly like this. The application goes through your local association (your local president or PEP/PRIDE chair submits it), and approval timelines vary — so the time to start is now, especially for a spring hatch. We will gladly supply the quote, program summary, and vendor paperwork your association needs. (We can't promise a grant outcome — that's NJEA's decision — but we can promise the paperwork on our end is painless.)
PTA/PTO and building funds
Many schools fund one setup per grade level this way, and the 3+ setup savings applies.
Standards Alignment
The 28-day program supports the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Science, aligned with NGSS life science: life cycles; growth and development of organisms; heredity and variation; structure and function; and scientific observation and data practices. Students observe embryos through candling, record predictions and hatch data in their journals, and follow chicks through their first week of growth — a complete, living life-science unit, delivered to your classroom and managed for you.
What's Included
Every setup includes delivery, setup, and pickup within 60 miles of Southampton, NJ 08088; the incubator, brooder, feed, and bedding; our Classroom Hatching Guide, student observation journal, candling and life-cycle charts, and coloring and name-the-chick activities; and personal support throughout — including hatch week. And 12 fertilized hatching eggs in every setup — for comparison, the national rent-a-chicken program includes 7.

Funding & Vendor Information
However your school pays for enrichment, we are set up for it. Here are the routes schools use to fund Hatch a Lovely Chick™ — one setup per classroom, $479 all-in.
Ways to pay
- Purchase order / district invoice. The most common route: your district issues a PO, we deliver and set up, and we invoice against it. No credit card required, and no teacher pays out of pocket. Multiple schools paid for this program by purchase order last year.
- NJEA PEP grants. PEP (Public Education Partnership) grants through the New Jersey Education Association can cover the cost of the program — ask your local association's PEP chair how to apply. Your local PEP/PRIDE chair applies through NJEA's Leader Connect portal, and approval typically takes 6–8 weeks, so start early — especially for a spring hatch. Details: njea.org/pep.
- NJEA FAST grants. FAST (Families and Schools Together) grants, through the same local-association channel, can fund family-engagement events built around the program — a family hatch-night, for example.
- PTA/PTO enrichment funds. Many schools fund one setup per grade level this way, and the book 3+ setups, save $50 per setup offer applies.
- Building / principal budget. We invoice your school like any other vendor — purchase order or direct invoice, whichever your business office prefers.
- Local education foundation grants. Many districts have an education foundation that offers teacher grants for enrichment programs like this one; we will supply the quote and program summary your application needs.
